Benalmadena in Spain

Benalmadena is only 15 mins drive from Malaga airport. It is located between Torremolinos and Fuengirola. 3 distinct areas make up Benalmadena each offering something a little different.

Benalmádena Pueblo

Benalmadena Pueblo is a traditional Andalucian village on the Costa del Sol, with narrow cobbled streets and white washed buildings. The pretty church in Benalmadena Pueblo is worth a visit by day or night. Set in an elevated position the Church overlooks Benalmadena Costa and the Mediterranean sea. Despite the influx of foreigners and the amount of building work that has taken place in recent years the Pueblo has managed to retain its traditional charm, and in my opinion is what makes Benalmadena special.

Benalmadena Arroyo de la Miel

This is the busy commercial town centre, separating Benalmadena Pueblo on the hill from the sea -front.

An excellent train service running between Fuengirola and Malaga has helped Arroyo grow rapidly. Its also worth mentioning that from Malaga it is now possible to reach Madrid in 2.5 hours, using the high speed line which was only completed in 2008.

Benalmádena Costa

The Costa is the main tourist area with its nine kilometres of golden sandy beaches. It has an award winning marina with excellent port facilities, fantastic nightlife and a fabulous Aquarium.

The marina was voted the best in the world by International Property Magazine in 1995, which is no surprise as it has an excellent choice of luxury accommodation, restaurants, bars and port facilities.

Benalmadena Costa is where huge numbers of Tourists stay every year and choose from a range of hotel accommodation, apartment or villa rentals. Beachfront hotels, apartments and villas are also an option.

Consequently, with a huge number of resident and visiting Tourists to Benalmadena and the Costa del Sol in general, the variety of restaurants is enormous. There are many English, Scottish and Irish pubs, most of which have live big screen sporting events. You also have the choice of many different nationality restaurants including, Chinese, Italian, Dutch, Lebanese, Indian etc. Try out the local dishes in any of the Spanish restaurants or tapas bars where fresh fish dishes are served up with wonderful chilled wine.

One of the best places on the Costa del Sol for nightlife is Benalmadena Costa's 24 hr square (Solimar Plaza). With so many different types of bars, clubs and restaurants there is always something for everybody. More clubs, live jazz, and salsa dancing are also available nearby at Benalmadena's Marina.

The commercial centre with its 8 cinema screens, shops and restaurants is another option to consider instead of the beach. Benalmadena has many attractions by day and night for all the family. From the new commercial centre (featuring 8 cinemas) to places such as Tivoli World (Theme Park), the fabulous Jardin de Las Aguilas (Garden of Eagles), Selwo Marina (penguins and dolphins) or cable car rides to see breathtaking views of the coast.

There is a varied range of Benalmadena accommodation from apartments and hotels to private Benalmadena rentals. Short and long terms lets can be found with most providers. Properties can be found in central locations, where a car is not required, or for a more peaceful holiday there are retreats away from these central locations. Rent Benalamdena Villas beyond your dreams or opt for Benalmadena apartment rentals overlooking the sea in a central location.
